Our Story

At J&J Farms, our roots run deep in the soil of St. Clair County, Alabama. What began in 1982 as a dream for Adrick and Connie Goodgame has grown into a thriving cattle operation known for excellence in genetics, temperament, and quality.

Adrick, raised on a farm just south of Pell City, learned early the value of hard work, livestock care, and land stewardship. After moving to Coal City, he began with a modest herd of 20 to 30 commercial cows. Soon after, a partnership with fellow cattlemen led to the purchase of six Santa Gertrudis heifers from Texas—the foundation of today’s herd.

By 2019, Adrick expanded into Santa Gertrudis/Hereford crossbreeding, launching the successful "Star Five" program. These restocker females quickly earned a reputation for their size, gentleness, and breeding value—with loyal buyers returning year after year.

As a committed member of Santa Gertrudis Breeders International, Adrick prioritized strong genetics and herd integrity. He maintained a long-standing relationship with Tinney Farms in Hanceville, Alabama, securing quality bulls to ensure his registered herd remained elite.

After Adrick’s passing in 2022, his family chose to carry forward his vision. Under the leadership of Farm Manager Adam Stansell, the herd has grown to over 200 mama cows. Today, J&J Farms continues to raise purebred Santa Gertrudis and commercial cattle that meet the growing demand for high-quality restocker females.

Our mission is clear: to breed and raise cattle with superior genetics, a calm disposition, and dependable performance. Each animal is managed with care and prepared for success in breeding programs across the Southeast.

Thank you for visiting J&J Farms. We invite you to explore our story, meet our team, and discover the difference our cattle can make in your herd.
